KWVA 88.1 Music Blog

My school’s college radio station is called KWVA 88.1 and there is an accompanied music blog. This is where music lovers of all genres can come together to write creative pieces. This has been a fun opportunity for me to not only get my interviews and photos published but also write about music-related things that I am passionate about! Below are some of my favorite blogs I have written.

Verb8im Interview & Photo Story

The music scene in Eugene is something that I have loved during my college experience. I wanted to start a series called “The Eugene Scene,” highlighting local bands who have released an album or EP this year, getting insight into their creative process and playing shows. I interviewed Verb8im and have been taking photos at their shows.

Mommy Interview & Photo Story

I also did an interview and photos for the band Mommy who have been in the Eugene scene for 4 years now! Another story for my series “The Eugene Scene.”

My love for Irish Rock

After looking at the discography of music from my 2023 Spotify Wrapped — I began to see a pattern. A lot of the artists happened to be Irish, so I wanted to write a blog about the history of Irish rock!

Sun Room in Concert

My favorite artist currently is called Sun Room, a 4-piece garage/surf rock band out of San Diego. I’ve seen them many times in concert and saw them in 3 cities last fall. I wanted to write about the differences between venues, the crowd, and their overall set since they are my favorite band to see live!

My Indie Surf Rock radio show

I had the opportunity to make a playlist of my favorite indie surf rock songs, new and old, and play it on my school’s radio station! It was my first ever radio show my friend let me do with her, and it was so fun. I wrote a blog piece to go along with my playlist, check out both below.

Universal vs. TikTok

Working for a major record label where a lot of our artist promotion is through TikTok, I thought the dispute between UMG and TikTok was really interesting. I wanted to write a piece about how the music business is changing with technology and what this feud meant for artists.
